Barrel finishing / Grinding / Shot polishing

Barrel finishing

In barrel finishing or drag grinding, the shaped parts are moved in a drum along with the abrasive bodies and a compound as bulk goods. The surfaces and especially the edges of the parts are ground by the rotating and oscillating movement of the grinding drum. In addition to barrel finishing, vibro-grinding is also used. G.W.P. prefers to use barrel finishing to deburr and degrease cast parts.

Shot polishing

Shot polishing uses economical barrel finishing technology to achieve a matte gloss. By using high-grade steel shot, a smooth surface with a matte finish is achieved. The surface is compressed by means of the so-called peening effect which increases corrosion protection.
